About TS Vanguard, Walsall Sea Cadets
Walsall Sea Cadets are part of a National Youth Organistion, our unit name being TS Vanguard. We are affiliated to HMS Vanguard which is a Vanguard Class SSBN (Ship Submersible Ballistic Nuclear) Submarine. We also have a very close friendship with the Crew of HMS Vanguard, currently linked with the Starboard Watch.

Activities
The Sea Cadets offer many different activites to get involved with. Most of these can be praticed within the Unit, however some of them are held at higher levels like District, Area or National. All Boating Proficiencies that the Cadets gain are certified by National or International Organisations such as the Royal Yachting Association and the British Canoeing Union
TS Vanguard offer the following activities within the Unit and their supporting areas:
Band, BTEC, Ceremonial Drill, Duke of Edinburgh, Kayaking(BCU), Power Boating(RYA), Piping, Pulling(SCC), Sailing(RYA), Seamanship & Swimming
Other activites are also available within the Sea Cadets Corps. As these activities are not available at the Unit, the cadets get a chance to go away to other Sea Cadet or Naval Establishments:
Communications, Cook Stewards, Diving, Electrical Engineering, Expedition Training, First Aid, Marine Engineering, Meteorology, Offshore Power Boating(RYA & SCC), Offshore Sailing in Yachts & Square Riggers(RYA & SCC), Physical Training, Shooting, Windsurfing(RYA) & Writer Stores
As the cadets gain qualifications in the above activities, they also get a chance to show how good they are against other units. The Sea Cadet Corps holds many competitions from District to National Level in which Walsall Unit try to take part in as many as possible.
